INTERACTIVE LESSONS
hands on activities
For Elementary Students, by High School students
Our specialized program targets students from 3rd – 5th grade, although interested 2nd graders are welcome. All that is required is an inquisitive brain and an excited student! Our high school instructors know exactly how to make elementary schoolers feel special and enthusiastically teach them about neuroscience.

Virtual CLasses
Due to school shutdowns and quarantine, we are conducting VIRTUAL CLASSES and making educational videos as of March 2020 for our students to view for free! Feel free to visit our Youtube channel, where you can find a plethora of videos with activities that your child can participate in to stay busy at home! We also partnered with STEMEY and Bay Area SfN Youth to lead a specialized neuroscience summer program for elementary, middle, and high school students. For the rest of the 2020-21 school year, we will continue with virtual classes within your respective areas taught by local teachers! Please contact us directly at t[email protected] for inquiries about the virtual program and for joining.

Benefits of Neuroscience and steam
STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics
Neuroscience: the study of the brain and its impact on behavior and cognitive functions, or how people think.
1. Motivational Resilience: Constructive Coping and Academic Engagement
Students will demonstrate proficiency in adaptive strategizing skills and persistence in the face of academic challenges, obstacles, and setbacks, which is crucial in the real world. They also demonstrate high quality participation in academic work, including effort and enthusiasm. Incorporation of STEAM can improve motivation, attention and retention.
2. Cognitive Skills, Metacognitive Skills, and Problem Solving
Students will know a variety of problem solving strategies and tools and be able to choose and strategically use these tools. They will also be able to identify, frame, and solve complex problems and apply knowledge and skills to novel problems and/or situations through the many activities in this program.
3. Academic Identity
Students will feel a sense of belonging, competency, autonomy and purpose as they view themselves and their potential to enjoy and succeed in STEAM or neuroscience classes and careers. This program could contribute to our greater understanding of the brain and behavior, and a better world.
